When Miranda Lambert stepped onto the stage in Thackerville, Oklahoma over the weekend, fans expected a hit-filled set — but they didn’t expect this. Midway through the show, Lambert surprised the crowd by launching into Choosin’ Texas, a track she helped co-write but had never actually performed live until that moment.

As a proud Texas native, Miranda Lambert couldn’t resist putting her own spin on Ella Langley’s recent hit, “Choosin’ Texas.”

Lambert covered the song over the weekend while playing a show in Thackerville, Oklahoma. Surprisingly, this was her first time singing the song live, even though she helped co-write it.

Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” was first released on October 17 and quickly went on to hit the No. 1 spot on the Hot Country Songs chart. In it, Langley sings about losing a love who ended up falling for a girl from Texas.

And even though it’s a heartbreak song, the story behind how it came to be is actually pretty funny.

Before the track’s official release, Langley shared how she and Lambert came up with the lyrics.

It turns out, it happened completely by accident during a writer’s retreat they attended last year. The two country stars were chatting when Lambert told Langley a hilarious story about something that happened to her years ago.

“She told me she had a pet kangaroo, and she was doing something, she was driving down a dirt road, and the kangaroo was in the back seat, and the dog was in the front seat. There was a lot going on,” she explained.

Langley continued, “Then she got pulled over with a kangaroo in the passenger seat. And I was like, ‘This story’s as good as I thought it would be.’ She said the lady cop pulled her over, and she’s like, ‘Of course I have Texas plates on the back of my car.’”

After hearing such a crazy story, Langley’s mind immediately started going wild with ideas.

“I was walking to the bathroom and I started to go, ‘She’s from Texas, I can tell by the way he’s two-steppin’ around the room.’ And Miranda was walking behind me to the bathroom, a separate one, and she was like, ‘Wait a minute…And from there, I think the song fell out in about 30 minutes…”

On Saturday, December 27, Lambert took the stage in a denim button-up and matching jeans as she belted out the country tune.

However, she couldn’t help but give her own little twist at the end to show her pride in being a true Texas lady.

Lambert sang the song’s last few lyrics:

“It doesn’t take a crystal ball to see / A cowboy always finds a way to leave / Drinkin’ Jack all by myself / He’s choosing Texas, I can tell, no / Drinkin’ Jack all by myself / He’s choosin’ Texas, I can tell

At the end, though, she added the line “Dang right he is!”

THE STADIUM ERUPTS THE MOMENT CELINE DION SINGS — but it isn’t just the roar of thousands that hits you. It’s the way time seems to stop the exact second those first trembling notes of My Heart Will Go On float into the air. One heartbeat… then another… and suddenly an arena full of strangers is transported back to 1997, to icy water and trembling hands, to a love story the world never recovered from. Celine stands there — luminous, fragile, unbreakable — and with one breath she turns a song everyone knows into a memory everyone feels. Phones rise, tears fall, and a quiet miracle happens: thousands breathe at the same rhythm, as if the whole stadium becomes a single living thing. By the final chorus, people aren’t just listening — they’re holding onto someone, wiping their cheeks, whispering ‘She still has it… she still is it.’ And when she lifts her hand toward the lights, every heart lifts with her, proof that after all these years, this song doesn’t just live… it still heals.

Celine Dion has many hits, but My Heart Will Go On is considered her signature song. This is…
