He Locked Himself in a Leeds Studio for Months — Now Yungblud Says He’s Ready to Shock the World

Yungblud shares thoughts on his upcoming album: "I have never felt more clear"

Yungblud is gearing up for his next album, and according to him, it’s his most personal and ambitious work yet. The Doncaster-born artist has been teasing a new era, and now, he’s finally pulling back the curtain.

“Four years in the making and it all begins Tuesday,” he shared. “I’m happy, healthy, nervous, terrified all at the same time, but I have never felt more clear or been more proud to stand by anything I have ever made. This album is an adventure, and I want you to close your eyes and get lost in all nine minutes and six seconds of its opening.”

This upcoming album is a shift for Yungblud, leaning into Britpop influences while keeping his signature intensity. He’s mentioned drawing from Oasis, The Verve, Primal Scream, My Chemical Romance, David Bowie, and Madonna. By the sounds of it, the record will be a blend of old and new. Something that feels both nostalgic and forward-thinking. He describes the record as a “concrete concept album,” meant to be experienced from start to finish, pushing him further than anything he’s done before.

“We locked ourselves in a studio in Leeds and just felt,” he explained. “We shut the world out instead of asking, ‘What’s popping on this?’ or ‘What’s the state of art?’ Fuck that. Could this album have been written 50 years ago? Could it be written in 50 years? Fucking everything else. It just is.”

Yungblud wants this record to be a mirror, a way for people to see themselves clearly, no matter where they come from or what they believe. Instead of rage, he’s leaning into connection, pushing a mantra of “come together, look each other in the eye, be human.”
