Julianne Hough Supports Derek Hough After Heartbreaking Family Loss

“Dancing with the Stars” professional dancer and Season 34 judge Derek Hough has shown a vulnerable side to himself recently as he bravely revealed the childhood bullying he has endured and the tremendous impact it had on him, and, more recently, he has opened up about his loss.

Derek Hough & Wife Hayley Erbert Open up About Loss

Hough and his wife, Hayley Erbert, are expecting their first child, and they could not be happier. Fans have loved witnessing their pregnancy journey, which the couple has chosen to share publicly, but many people would not have realized that this is their rainbow baby. The couple is opening up about a miscarriage that happened before this pregnancy and how they are navigating their emotions going into this new chapter of their life.

They posted a joint video on Instagram on October 15. In the video, the text reads, “Although we are so excited to be welcoming our rainbow baby so soon, we honor our baby that never made it Earthside.”

“There are some things in life that change you forever. For us, this is one of those things,” the caption of the joint post between Erbert and Hough reads. “A chapter of love, loss, heartbreak, and everything in between. As we are now in October, Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, we share this part of our story to honor our baby that never made it earthside. One in four pregnancies end in miscarriage, a silent heartbreak so many families know, and one we unfortunately had to experience. As we share this, know that there’s a rainbow not far behind.”

This is something Hough and Erbert had not spoken about publicly before, but doing so now helps to raise awareness for miscarriage. It may also be of some solace to those going through similar experiences.

Fans have flooded the comment section with messages of support, but one of the messages that stands out is one from Hough’s sister, professional dancer and DWTS co-host, Julianne Hough.

“Witnessing your journey and how you have moved through each life-changing moment in the last few years has been the greatest testament of resilience and the power of love – I’m forever in awe of your strength and vulnerability in loving completely! I love you so much,” Julianne commented on the post. Her comment has been liked over 2,000 times from fans who are showing their support for her message.

The world leaned in when Paul McCartney reflected on Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, and instead of the bitterness or worship some expected, he spoke of John Lennon with a grace that stunned even longtime critics, recalling his old friend with honesty, warmth, and just enough edge to make it real, and fans whispered that Paul had finally found the balance between memory and myth, refusing to deify John but never diminishing him either, leaving audiences with the rare sense that they weren’t just hearing about a song, but witnessing a Beatle heal history one word at a time.

“I just want to stand one more time…” Not for fame. Not for pity. Just to stand — in front of the music that carried her through hospital rooms, relentless treatments, and nights when hope felt razor-thin. And then, in the middle of 85,000 people at MetLife Stadium, Paul McCartney did something no stage rehearsal could teach: he stopped the show, knelt down to her level, took her hand… and helped her rise. No confetti. No forced spectacle. Just a fragile, determined teenager, a legend steadying her like an anchor, and a stadium that went completely silent — the kind of silence that happens when everyone is trying not to break. When the song ended, Paul kissed her forehead and whispered, “You did it.” And maybe that single sentence will outlast every cheer — because it gave her something deeper than a moment. It gave her dignity.

ONE FATHER. TWO SONS. THREE VOICES THAT STOPPED A HALL. Beneath the warm concert lights, Andrea Bocelli walked out alone. Then, quietly, Matteo and Amos stepped beside him. No words. No signal. Just presence. Andrea paused. His eyes softened. When he sang, the room leaned in. Matteo’s voice lifted the melody. Amos held it steady. Three voices, breathing as one. People didn’t clap. They listened. You could feel the stillness settle between notes. It wasn’t about technique or applause. It was about time passing, and love staying. A father sharing a song with his sons, and a hall realizing it was witnessing something far more human than music itself
