Ethan Browne lived much of his early life in the public eye, appearing on the cover of Rolling Stone as a baby alongside his father. As an adult, he carved his own creative path, working in fashion, acting in the 2004 film Raising Helen, and later launching Spinside Records under Inside Recordings, his father’s independent label.

Among those remembering Ethan is music producer Mark Ronson, who featured him in his memoir ‘Night People’. Ronson described him as “the real deal, with an angular face and soulful gaze that seemed to reveal his deepest truths, even from a glossy page,” and recalled his “sharp cheekbones” and “soulful eyes.”

Jackson Browne often spoke openly about fatherhood and its significance in his life, especially after the death of Ethan’s mother, Phyllis Major. In a 2021 interview, he said becoming present for his son became his “main focus.” He reflected: “I only had two things that I hoped I could fit together: being a songwriter and a father. And I looked at it like this, if I have to only be a father, I hope I’ll know it, and just do that.”

In another interview, Browne expressed pride in the man his son became, saying: “Ethan is a great father. He’s a great son, a great man.” He added that watching Ethan work, parent and live creatively made him “very proud.”

The Browne family continues to maintain silence as they mourn, asking for privacy during what they described as an immeasurably difficult time.
