There’s nothing sweeter than seeing a rescue dog leave a shelter and head to their forever home. These dogs seem to know they’re safe, showing their joy with big smiles, wagging tails, and lots of excitement. Even if they’re a little scared, their grateful eyes tell you they understand they’ve been saved and good days are coming.
One special dog, Stanley, showed his love in a big way. Stanley was a 6-month-old puppy found in an abandoned house with his mom. The scared little pup was taken to a shelter in Christchurch, New Zealand, hoping to find a family soon.
At the shelter, they asked Sam Clarence, a volunteer dog walker for Bull Breed Rescue, to take Stanley home for a few weeks to help him feel safe. But when Sam met Stanley, something magical happened. As soon as he saw the puppy, Sam knew he wasn’t just going to foster him—he was going to adopt him!
On the car ride home, Stanley wouldn’t let go of Sam. He kept one paw on his new dad’s arm, like he was saying, “I’m staying with you forever.” They bonded right away, but Stanley still had some fears to overcome. When they got home, he was so nervous that it took him over an hour to get out of the car!
Once inside, Sam gave Stanley food, a bath, and a cozy bed. Slowly, Stanley started to feel at home. He loved being close to Sam and earned the nickname “Velcro dog” because he always wanted to be touching his dad.
Now, Stanley is a happy and brave dog. He and Sam go on fun outdoor adventures, and Stanley loves swimming in lakes and ponds. Even when he’s sleeping, he keeps one paw on Sam to stay close.
Stanley’s story shows how love can help a scared dog become confident and joyful. Share this heartwarming tale with your family and friends to spread the love!
