Céline Dion released her first English-language album 35 years ago, and to celebrate she’s sharing previously unreleased performance footage of her breakout hit Where Does My Heart Beat Now.

Taken from the BBC archives, the 1991 recording shows the then 23-year-old throwing herself into the performance, filled with emotion and Dion’s expressive movements.

Where Does My Heart Beat Now was released as the third single in Canada off Unison, which was Dion’s ninth studio album but her first in English markets. The song was released as the lead single in the U.S., and other countries globally.

It wasn’t the first time anyone had heard the song, though: Dion premiered it at the 1989 Eurovision Song Contest in Lausanne, Switzerland, when she opened the competition after winning it the year before.

It’s been just over a year since Dion stunned everyone with her performance of Édith Piaf’s Hymne à l’amour at the Paris Olympics, her first public performance since revealing her diagnosis with stiff person syndrome in 2022.

Earlier this year, the Montreal singer inducted Ginette Reno, queen of the chanson québécoise, into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

In July, Swedish House Mafia’s Sebastian Ingrosso released a remix of her 2002 single A New Day Has Come, along with a video of Dion dancing joyously to it.
