  • The Boy Meets World alum, 44, said that her cancer journey inspired her to join the cast of Dancing with the Stars season 34
  • The actress, who is paired with Pasha Pashkov, said joining the ABC show was the “fastest” she’s ever said “yes”

Danielle Fishel said she decided to join the cast of Dancing with the Stars season 34 after undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

”The minute I was done with my cancer treatment, I thought to myself, ‘If this has shown me anything, it has shown me that I am not experiencing enough joy in my life,’ ” the Boy Meets World alum, 44, told PEOPLE exclusively.

Fishel, who is paired with pro Pasha Pashkov for the ABC hit, continued, ”I’m going through every day, performing tasks and being there for my family and being there for work. Where’s the fun?”

“When they asked me to do this, I was like, ‘This is the perfect way to cap it off,’ “ she explained.

Fishel was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer called ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), which she shared on her podcast, Pod Meets World, last August.

Treatment included a lumpectomy in August and a margin revision surgery in September, she told PEOPLE. Fishel shared that she initially considered a double mastectomy, but doctors said that because the disease was caught so early, a lumpectomy was the best route “to get back to my normal life as quickly as possible.”

“I was feeling healthy, I was looking healthy. But I went in for my mammogram and they said it looked suspicious and the results are abnormal,” she told PEOPLE about how her cancer was found. “I was not expecting in any way that it was going to find anything. It was really shocking.”

Fishel also underwent 20 rounds of radiation, explaining that it “hurt to be awake” after it left her with a “bad sunburn” and a rash.

After treatment, Fishel said her mantra was “saying yes to this year” — and as she tells PEOPLE, joining DWTS “was just the fastest” she’s ever said “yes.”

Every Paul McCartney concert has its loud moments—but the quietest one is always the loudest. After the thunder of “Helter Skelter,” the lights dim and Paul McCartney walks to the piano. The crowd already knows what’s coming. When the first notes of Maybe I’m Amazed ring out, the stadium stops breathing. Written in 1970, the song has aged into something deeper: a lifelong conversation with Linda McCartney. As Paul sings, giant screens glow with Linda’s photographs—family moments, soft smiles, an ordinary love made eternal. He often says only, “I wrote this for Linda.” He doesn’t need more. His voice, still cracking on the high notes, carries everything he cannot say. In songs like “My Love” and throughout his time with Wings, Linda is never absent. She isn’t gone—just off-stage, living forever in the music. 👉 Read more reflections in the first comment.

SOME CALLED HER TROUBLE — TOBY CALLED HER “WHISKEY GIRL.” Rumor has it, the idea came one late night in a Nashville bar, where Toby watched a woman laugh louder than the music itself. She wore dusty boots, had a scar on her left wrist, and ordered whiskey neat — no ice, no hesitation. “That right there,” he told Scotty Emerick, “is a whole damn song.” When “Whiskey Girl” hit the airwaves in 2004, it wasn’t just another country hit — it was a mirror of Toby himself: unfiltered, confident, and full of attitude. Lines like “She’s my little whiskey girl, my ragged-on-the-edges girl” weren’t just lyrics; they were a toast to every woman who dances to her own rhythm and every man who’s ever been brave enough to keep up. Behind the swagger, though, was somethi Behind the swagger, though, was something tender — a reminder that beneath all the noise and neon, Toby always wrote about real people. Not perfect ones. Just the kind that make life worth singing about.

. 🎤 The night he sang — not knowing how much it would come to mean. It looked like just another gentle, unforgettable performance from Paul McCartney — the kind he’s delivered for decades. A quiet summer stage. A familiar voice. No grand spectacle, no dramatic pause — just music, memory, and presence. He stepped into the song with calm warmth, letting every lyric land softly, as if he trusted the moment to carry itself. Those who were there say the atmosphere felt different — more intimate, more reflective — though no one could quite explain why. A smile to the band. A grateful glance to the crowd. A soft thank-you that sounded routine… and yet, now feels unforgettable. Only afterward did fans begin to see the performance in a new light — not just as a song, but as a moment frozen in time. 👉 Watch the performance and see why people are still talking — details in the first comment below.
