Sometimes, a contestant’s journey on The Voice doesn’t end when the competition does. Evansville singer Kenna Elpers is giving fans another reason to revisit her musical connection with fellow contestant Joe Henley after her emotional elimination from Season 30.
The pair previously performed “Don’t Mind If I Do,” the Riley Green and Ella Langley duet, during the Battle Rounds. Now, their acoustic version is drawing renewed attention to the musical chemistry that made their original performance memorable.
A Battle That Left Fans Wanting More
Their original performance was memorable partly because their voices offered different strengths. Kelly Clarkson compared Kenna’s sweet tone and quick vibrato to Alison Krauss, while she described Joe’s deep, distinctive country voice as having a quality reminiscent of Randy Travis. Adam Levine and Queen Latifah also praised the pair.
The performance impressed the coaches, but Riley Green ultimately chose Joe to advance. He also made a point of recognizing Kenna’s contribution, telling her that Joe’s performance benefited from her experience and guidance.
Why the Acoustic Version Is Getting Attention
The stripped-down duet gives listeners another opportunity to appreciate the connection between the two singers without the pressure of a televised competition. With the focus on their voices and the song’s emotional delivery, the new version has encouraged fans to call for another collaboration.
For Kenna, the release also offers a reminder that leaving the show doesn’t mean leaving music behind. Her experience performing live, including previously opening for Riley Green, gives her a foundation to continue pursuing opportunities beyond the competition.
Could This Be the Start of More Music Together?
Fans who enjoyed the pair’s The Voice Battle will be hoping this isn’t their last time singing together. Their contrasting country vocals brought something special to “Don’t Mind If I Do,” and a future duet could give them another chance to explore that musical chemistry.
Neither singer’s next collaboration has been confirmed, but the renewed interest shows that their pairing made an impression beyond the Battle stage.
