Members of a legendary ’70s band shared a moment that now feels almost unreal—a quiet, beautiful reunion that happened just months before one of them passed away. Danny Hutton of Three Dog Night revealed that he went to see Chuck Negron five months before Chuck’s death, not knowing it would be one of their final moments together. They didn’t talk about fame or the old days much—just life, memories, and the bond that never really fades. When it was time to say goodbye, Chuck’s final words hit Danny like a punch to the chest. He later admitted they broke him completely, leaving him crying like a baby long after he walked out the door.

Three Dog Night founding member Chuck Negron died Feb. 2 at the age of 83. He sang lead on the band’s best-known hits, including “Joy to the World (Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog),” “One (Is the Loneliest Number),” “The Show Must Go On,” and “Old Fashioned Love Song.”

Prior to his death, Negron had a bittersweet reunion with Three Dog Night’s other surviving member, Danny Hutton, Three Dog Night shared on their social media accounts. The band’s other original member, Cory Wells, died in 2015 from multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer.

Three Dog Night split up in 1976, reunited in 1981 and then Negron left the group for good in 1985 due to his struggles with drug addiction.

“I received the news today that my former bandmate from Three Dog Night, Chuck Negron, passed away peacefully at his home,” Hutton wrote in a message posted along with a photo of an empty stage bathed in purple lights with the Three Dog Night logo.

“When Chuck left the band 40 years ago, we rarely spoke and lost touch for much of that time. Five months ago, his wife Ami called to tell me he was very sick, and I decided I should go see him.

“When I arrived at his house, we hugged, cried, reminisced, and shared many stories. In that moment, we realized how much time had been lost by not being in each other’s lives. It was a beautiful and deeply meaningful reunion.

“Besides being a phenomenal singer, Chuck was a good college basketball player and had a great sense of humor.

“I will always be grateful for the music we made together,” Hutton added.

THE FRONT ROW SEAT WAS EMPTY. THAT WAS HIS FATHER’S SPOT. Ignazio Boschetto has always been the “happy heart” of Il Volo. But few knew that right before the most important concert of his life, he lost his beloved father, Vito. He had promised his dad he would never stop singing. Last night, Ignazio walked onto the stage with red, swollen eyes. He looked down at the VIP seat in the front row—the spot where his father had sat for 10 years. Now, it was empty, save for a single white rose. As the melody of “Caruso” began, Ignazio tried to smile. But at the chorus, he crumbled. He couldn’t get the notes out. Immediately, Piero and Gianluca—his brothers not by blood, but by soul—did something that made the whole world weep…
