‘The Voice’ Season 31: Showrunner Teases Celebrity Contestants and Reveals One Strict Casting Rule

The upcoming season will feature familiar faces, unexpected singing talent, and celebrities competing for a chance to become the show’s first celebrity champion.

Fans of The Voice have something different to look forward to in 2027. The popular NBC singing competition is preparing to launch its first-ever celebrity edition, and the show’s executive producer has revealed new details about the famous contestants and what viewers can expect from the upcoming season.

Season 31, officially titled The Voice: Celebrity, will replace the show’s usual lineup of undiscovered singers with familiar personalities from entertainment, sports, social media, and reality television. Although the contestants’ identities have not yet been announced, producers are already teasing a competitive season filled with unexpected performances and plenty of surprises.

The Celebrity Contestants Are More Competitive Than Expected

Executive producer Audrey Morrissey recently spoke to TV Insider about the upcoming season, revealing that the celebrities took the competition more seriously than the production team initially anticipated.

According to Morrissey, the contestants weren’t simply looking for a fun television appearance. They genuinely wanted to improve their performances, impress the coaches, and compete for the title.

She explained that the experience helped producers recognize just how much determination these celebrities brought to the competition. Their drive to succeed made filming particularly exciting, and she believes audiences will find the new format entertaining.

The upcoming season will give viewers the opportunity to see familiar personalities in an unfamiliar setting, challenging themselves in front of the show’s famous red chairs.

The Strict Casting Rule: Celebrities Must Already Know How to Sing

One of the biggest revelations from Morrissey concerns the show’s casting process. Despite the contestants’ fame, producers aren’t looking for celebrities who need to learn the basics of singing.

Instead, the team wants people who already possess genuine vocal ability and can deliver performances strong enough to convince a coach to turn their chair.

The casting search includes actors, athletes, reality television personalities, and other well-known figures who have impressive singing skills that audiences may not know about.

This means being famous won’t automatically give anyone an advantage. Contestants will still need to demonstrate their talent through the familiar Blind Auditions, where coaches initially hear the performances without seeing who is singing.

The rule adds an interesting twist to the celebrity edition: viewers may recognize the people onstage, but the coaches will still have to decide whether their voices deserve a place on a team.

Joe Jonas, Queen Latifah, and Riley Green Will Coach the Competition

The upcoming season will also feature a new coaching lineup.

Joe Jonas will join Queen Latifah and Riley Green in the red chairs. Jonas, known for his work with the Jonas Brothers, has previous coaching experience on The Voice Australia, but Season 31 will mark his coaching debut on the American version of the series.

Queen Latifah and Green will return after joining the coaching panel for Season 30.

Meanwhile, Keke Palmer will take over hosting duties for the celebrity edition. Longtime host Carson Daly will remain involved as a producer, even though he won’t host this special installment.

The combination of three coaches from different entertainment backgrounds promises a fresh dynamic as they evaluate contestants whose public profiles may be just as recognizable as their performances.

New Features Will Give Fans a Behind-the-Scenes Look

Season 31 will introduce additional features designed to give viewers more access to the contestants and their experiences throughout the competition.

Voice Boot Camp will offer a look at how the celebrities prepare for their Blind Auditions. The VIP Room will let contestants watch their fellow celebrities perform, while The Workroom will provide a closer look at preparations and strategies before the Battles.

These additions will allow audiences to see more than just the performances. Viewers will also get a glimpse of the preparation, nerves, and competitive spirit that go into stepping onto the stage.

The celebrity format is intended to reveal new sides of familiar personalities while retaining the central element that has made The Voice popular: the search for exceptional singing talent.

NBC has scheduled The Voice: Celebrity to premiere in spring 2027. An exact premiere date and the full contestant lineup have yet to be announced.

Until then, fans can continue watching Season 30, which features Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, Queen Latifah, and Riley Green as coaches.

With a new cast of recognizable faces, a strict emphasis on real vocal talent, and a competitive atmosphere that reportedly exceeded expectations, Season 31 could offer one of the most distinctive versions of The Voice yet.

The biggest question remains: Which celebrities will surprise viewers with their singing abilities, and who will ultimately become the first celebrity champion of The Voice?

While many rock icons transformed private jets into symbols of excess and ego, Paul McCartney chose something far quieter — and far more lasting. A simple aircraft. No gold. No spectacle. Just a small, almost invisible handwritten line near the cabin door, written years ago for Linda McCartney, like a love note never meant to be found. 💖 It’s a gentle, deeply personal homage to the woman who anchored him through grief-filled songwriting, silent tours, losses, reunions, and countless late-night landings. Fans who learn of it are often stopped in their tracks by the same realization: even at 40,000 feet — long after fame had lost its meaning — rock’s greatest romantic wasn’t flying on luxury or pride, but on remembrance, devotion, and a promise he never let go of. 👉 WATCH BELOW 👇👇👇

If you have attended a Paul McCartney concert in the past twenty years, you know the moment. The roar of “Helter Skelter” fades, the lights dim, and McCartney walks toward the piano. The atmosphere inside the stadium shifts—from celebration to quiet reverence. This is the space reserved for “Maybe I’m Amazed.” Written in 1970, the song has become something far more enduring: an ongoing conversation with Linda McCartney. As Paul sings, giant screens display Linda’s photographs—family scenes, unguarded smiles, fragments of a life shared. He often introduces the song with a single line: “I wrote this for Linda.” Nothing more is needed. His voice still cracks, carrying the devotion of youth through the weight of time. Linda is not remembered as absence, but as presence—still part of the band, still in the music. 👉 Read the full reflection in the first comment.

“Take me to Arizona… to the ranch.” Those were the words Linda McCartney whispered in her final days — not as a plea, but as a choice already made. Within hours, Paul McCartney quietly arranged a private flight. No press. No hospital corridors. No London. Just a final journey toward a place Linda had chosen not for hope — but for peace. Why Arizona? Why the ranch? And why, in the decades that followed, did Paul leave everything there exactly as she left it — rooms untouched, details frozen — as if time itself was never given permission to move on?
