During the star-studded 30th Anniversary Rainforest Foundation Benefit concert, Bruce Springsteen closed the show with one of rock’s most iconic songs, Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

In a memorable moment, Sting introduced the finale, recalling a conversation with Bruce: “I asked him, ‘What do you want to close with?’ He responded, ‘This song,’ and I said, ‘I don’t know that song.’ He replied, ‘Everyone in the country knows it but you.’”

The event took place on December 12, 2019, at the Beacon Theater in NYC, bringing together a legendary lineup that included Lady Gaga, Shirley Bassey, Debbie Harry, Annie Lennox, John Mellencamp, D.M.C., Ricky Martin, Shaggy, and many others. Robert Downey Jr. hosted the unforgettable night, which was filled with 80s nostalgia and electrifying performances.

BEHIND THE MASK — The Night Paul Stanley Almost Walked Away. The Reunion Tour was supposed to be magic. Instead, Paul remembers standing in a silent corridor, listening to Ace and Peter shouting on opposite sides of the wall… and realizing the dream was crumbling. Ace was spiraling. Peter was angry at everyone and everything. And Paul — exhausted, heartbroken — was the last thread holding the original KISS together. He says he wore the Starchild makeup like armor, hiding a storm no fan ever saw. “When the lights went down,” Paul said, “the band looked invincible… but backstage, we were falling apart.”

“MIDNIGHT HIT, GUITARS STRUMMED, AND SUDDENLY EVERYONE WAS SINGING ALONG.” As the clock flipped to a brand-new year, Goo Goo Dolls showed up with Iris and turned Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve into an accidental group therapy session. Fireworks went off, voices cracked, and people who swore they were just ‘watching casually’ found themselves shouting the chorus. It wasn’t planned, it wasn’t ironic, and it definitely wasn’t quiet. Somehow, one song made millions feel like they’d started the year together.
