Kate Hudson has made her parents proud many times before — but this moment broke through in a way nothing else had. Goldie Hawn revealed the family was left in tears, watching Kate shine in a form they never saw coming. Kurt Russell, visibly overwhelmed, didn’t hold back, calling her one of the greatest actors of her generation. What happened off-camera, behind closed doors, may have been even more emotional than what audiences saw on screen

Goldie Hawn, 80, and Kurt Russell, 74, have a lot to be thankful for — one being the success of their daughter Kate Hudson’s stellar acting career.

In an interview with People ahead of a Jan. 13 Q&A event for Hudson’s new film “Song Sung Blue,” Hawn shared how she and Russell couldn’t help but cry over their daughter’s role in the musical drama, which tells the story of Lightning & Thunder, a Neil Diamond tribute band from the late ‘80s.

“We all cried in unison,” the “First Wives Club” actress shared with People at the AMC The Grove 14 in Los Angeles. Hawn noted how Hudson’s talent “never stops to surprise me or any of us.”

While Hudson’s biological father is Bill Hudson, she was raised by Hawn and Russell after a 1982 divorce led to the 41-year relationship between the Hollywood couple. Having been raised in a home full of talent, including that of her brother Oliver Hudson, Hawn explained how that incredible environment led to Hudson’s ongoing success.

The “Overboard” actress noted how her daughter’s acting skills come from “instinct,” adding, “Katie’s obviously come from two people who make movies, and with that, you see how we behaved.”

“We all live together. We’re a family together. And we have genetics that are very similar,” Hawn added. “All of us, we see somebody in here, and I look at Ryder [Hudson’s son], and I see Oliver and the kids. But I don’t think that there’s…We learn by example. We don’t learn by oration, rhetoric, none of that.”

Kurt Russell Is Kate Hudson’s Biggest Fan

During the actual Q&A, HELLO! reported that Hawn explained how Russell could barely contain his excitement after seeing Hudson in her new role, telling his longtime partner that he believes Hudson is one of the greatest actors of our time.

Hawn noted during the event, “From the minute you did the Patsy Cline song! I mean, literally cried. And it was like one of those moments where we thought, ‘What have we just seen?’ And it was such [an] extraordinary surprise.”

In the film, Hudson plays frontrunner Claire Sardina, while Hugh Jackman plays Claire’s husband, Mike. The duo toured the U.S. from the late ‘80s through the early 2000s. Hudson ended up receiving a Golden Globe nomination for her role.

Stop what you’re doing—because Eddie Vedder just set the stage on fire. Teaming up with the Tedeschi Trucks Band, the Pearl Jam frontman tore into The Who’s classic “The Seeker,” and the result was pure electricity. Vedder’s gritty voice, wrapped around the song’s raw edge, collided perfectly with the band’s powerhouse sound, turning the cover into something that felt less like a tribute and more like a full-blown rock revival. The crowd roared, the energy spiked, and for a few unforgettable minutes, it felt like time stopped. This wasn’t just a cover—it was a thunderstorm of sound, led by Vedder at his fiercest.

AMERICA DIDN’T CHEER. AMERICA HELD ITS BREATH. The music was loud. Then it stopped. Not by accident. By choice. Under the lights, a young veteran appeared. Prosthetic legs. Steady steps. Eyes forward. You could feel the air change. Toby Keith didn’t rush. He waited. When they met, there were no words at first. Just an embrace. A long one. His voice cracked when he sang again. Earlier that year, he’d stood alone, singing about time, illness, and fear. But this night was heavier. This was about sacrifice. And gratitude. For a few quiet seconds, no one was a stranger. Just people… remembering why some moments matter.

Forty-five years after John Lennon was taken from the world, Paul McCartney has finally opened up about their last conversation — a short, unexpected phone call that quietly healed years of distance and misunderstanding. 💔✨ It wasn’t dramatic. There were no grand confessions. Just laughter, warmth, and the feeling that time hadn’t taken everything after all. Paul later said the call left him peaceful — unaware it would be the last time he’d ever hear John’s voice. Then came the early-morning call that shattered everything. In the hours that followed, Paul, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison quietly came together, not as legends, but as friends who had lost a brother. “None of us could bear the pain alone,” Paul admitted. Decades later, the memories remain raw. Not because of fame or history — but because some bonds never break, even when words are left unsaid. Some conversations arrive late… but still change everything. 🎸👇 WATCH the full story and rare details in the first comment below.
