David Gilmour insists there is “no possible way” he would reunite with Roger Waters

Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour has insisted that absolutely nothing in the world would cause him to reunite with ex-bandmate Roger Waters.

The pair have a long-running feud, which stems from a power struggle over the direction and control of Pink Floyd. This crescendoed in the late 1970s and led to Waters’ departure in 1985, as well as subsequent legal battles over who was entitled to the Pink Floyd name.

Recently, the discussion has turned to their political differences; Gilmour and his wife recently criticized Waters’ views on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and other political statements, which they deem to have been antisemitic.

Newly speaking to The Telegraph, Gilmour has continued to shut down any possibility of a reunion between the pair. When asked what, if anything, would need to happen to make him feel comfortable performing with Waters again, the star replied, “Nothing. There is no possible way that I would do that.”

Gilmour’s wife, Polly Samson, also opened up about her arguments with Waters. In February 2023, Samson addressed Waters on X as “anti-Semitic to your rotten core. Also a Putin apologist and a lying, thieving, hypocritical, tax-avoiding, lip-synching, misogynistic, sick-with-envy megalomaniac.” Gilmour added that “Every word [was] demonstrably true.”

She explained her reasoning behind the post, writing, “The reason I did it was because Pink Floyd are quite a faceless band. Everywhere I went, there’s a chance that people thought I was married to the one who said things like that. And it wasn’t a great feeling.”

She also added, “If they knew you’re married to someone from Pink Floyd, half the time people were giving me quite strange looks and it was really uncomfortable and I just wanted to draw a line and make it clear that these were not views held by me or the person I was married to.”

Recently, Waters hit out at Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, reigniting their old feud. “He’s a timid little bloke. I think he’s unpleasant company,” Waters newly shared.
