Watch Stevie Nicks play ‘Angel’ for the first time in over four decades

STEVIE-NICKS

Stevie Nicks was originally set to kick off her tour in August, but an unexpected shoulder fracture forced her to put everything on hold. After taking the time she needed to heal, the Fleetwood Mac icon returned to the stage with renewed fire. She launched the night with a rousing cover of Not Fade Away, before sliding seamlessly into Dreams, one of Fleetwood Mac’s most timeless tracks. Fans were also treated to favorites like Gypsy and Gold Dust Woman, alongside her 2024 release The Lighthouse, a powerful piece written in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade.

One of the evening’s biggest surprises came midway through the setlist. For her twelfth song, Nicks reached deep into her catalog to resurrect Angel from Fleetwood Mac’s 1979 album Tusk—a song she hadn’t performed live since 1983. Originally released as the sixth and final single from Tusk, Angel has always carried a personal history for Nicks. In the liner notes of the 2015 reissue, she revealed that the track was inspired by Mick Fleetwood—not so much their romance, but her admiration for his style and presence. “He’d walk into a room, and I couldn’t help but look up,” she reflected. “It’s about his eccentric fob watch, his gorgeous clothes—he was just so stylish, and I was this California girl who’d never met anyone like him.”

Nicks will keep the momentum going through the end of the year, with her final tour stop set for December 10th at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida. Along the way, she’ll hit major venues including Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on November 19th and Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena on October 11th.
